Art Therapy

Art Therapy uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, manage behaviour, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.

Art Therapy can play a crucial role in helping a child, adolescent or adult to express emotions, needs and values, where words do not always suffice.

Clients embrace the art-making process and their creative explorations become the concrete medium for sharing insights, unpacking what’s most alive in their life through a procedural approach, or exploring approaches for regulation, attachment, efficacy and social/ emotional development.

Through this process, the intention is for clients to feel valued and accepted as they are. Art Therapy opens the realm of possibilities and perspectives to answer a question, to look at an issue, to release an emotion, to find a new truth, to express the unsaid… It can support transitions, build resilience in the face of challenging circumstances or help find new ways of dealing with situations as they come up in day to day life.

You do not need to be “good at art” to benefit from art therapy!
