Speech Pathologists assess and treat the functional implications of speech and language problems from a developmental perspective.  Speech and Language Pathology is the study of problems that affect a person’s speech, language, cognition, swallowing, and the rehabilitative or corrective treatment of physical and/or cognitive deficits/disorders resulting in difficulty with communication.

Assessment and treatment may address speech production, vocal production, receptive language, expressive language and/or pragmatic language needs.

Speech Pathology services at Crisalida

Speech Pathologists at Crisalida work with babies, children, adolescents and adults.  Sessions involve the recommendations of therapeutic strategies for home and school.  Depending on the nature and severity of the disorder, common treatments may range from physical strengthening exercises, instructive or repetitive practice, and drilling, through the use of audio-visual cues and introduction of strategies to facilitate functional communication.  Speech pathology sessions may also include sign language and the use of picture symbols, with specific alternative communication programs as needed.
