Mark Danko is a psychologist and couples and family therapist with extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, providing counselling and psychotherapy across the lifespan, including with children, adolescents, and older adults. He has worked with a diverse range of mental health concerns, such as:

    Anxiety

    Depression

    Grief and loss

    Panic

    Substance abuse

    Low self-esteem

    Anger and conflict resolution

    Relationship issues

    Bullying

    Post-traumatic stress

    Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

    Mood disorders

    Challenging behaviour

In addition to his individual practice, Mark has facilitated group programs for high-conflict families and men who use family violence. His clinical experience has fostered a particular interest in body image disturbance and supporting individuals who experience neurodiversity.

Believing that therapy should enhance personal growth and develop strategies for change, Mark’s approach is informed by psychodynamic principles while integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). He emphasises the importance of the therapeutic relationship, recognising that psychological growth flourishes when this connection is established.

Aware that people can be steeled by adversity, Mark works towards enhancing the process of growth in the individual. The goal of Mark’s counselling practice is to help clients achieve a deeper understanding of themselves, leading to more fulfilling and harmonious lives.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Mark enjoys watching films, reading, and spending quality time with his family.
